Who can access Short Term Accommodation (STA) support?

STA, or Short-Term Accommodation, is an NDIS initiative to provide temporary housing for individuals with disabilities. If your NDIS plan includes STA, the agency will fund temporary accommodation for you for up to 28 days per year. However, it should not be more than 14 days at a time.
Along with the housing, we will also support you with personal activities and meals, which can be helpful when your caregiver or regular support worker is unavailable. Sometimes, it may also include other activities that you and your NDIS provider agree to. Here are some possible scenarios when you might need STA:
In case STA isn’t included in your NDIS plan, you can ask your planner or LAC at your plan review meeting. They will check the information you provided in support of your request and determine if and how much funding is reasonable for you.
If you have any of these needs, you can connect with our team, who will make suitable STA arrangements for you. Our Accommodation Assistance Team will leave no stone unturned in providing the best for your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

With short-term housing, participants can receive more urgent support—like emergency housing and respite care—to help them reach their objectives and advance their capacity for independent living.
Supported independent living (SIL), on the other hand, is a sort of long-term care that is often delivered in a participant’s home, intending to establish a continuum plan with the individual to achieve better outcomes in their daily lives.
You can reach out to your NDIS plan manager, if you have one, and seek their help in accessing funds for STA support. If you don’t have a manager, you can contact your provider, who will first determine your eligibility for STA support. After confirming your eligibility, they will navigate the funding process for you.
You can find a provider in three simple ways:
Firstly, you can use funds from core budgets for STA support if it’s not specifically included in your NDIS plan. But if you still want to include it in your plan, you can ask your LAC or planner during your review meeting.
At the moment, we do not have plan management services.
